Ida Rubinstein – famous dancer and icon of Sergei Diaghilev Russian Seasons, muse of Gabriel D’Annunzio and frequent guest of Vittoriale, especially for her this Italian author staged theatrical performance “Le Martyre de Saint Sebastian”.

The painter Valentin Serov immortalized her unusual dual beauty by the famous portrait, which is kept in the collection of the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg now, and Leon Bakst created a real gallery of images in sketches of costumes and scenography, which after the first night immediately acquired by the Parisian museum of decorative arts.

The contemporary artist Anna Nezhnaya, using these famous sketches invented a symbolic logo – the dancing letters of ballerina’s name initials “I.R.” for her own original new decorative panels dedicated to the modern theatrical productions on the theme of ballets “le Martyre de Saint Sebastian”, “Cleopatra” and “Bolero.”
